The New Orleans Saints have added some defensive help to their roster.

The team signed veteran defensive end George Johnson on Tuesday, while releasing veteran offensive tackle Bryce Harris.

The 20-year old Johnson, who went undrafted out of Rutgers in 2010, played in four games with the Detroit Lions earlier this season, compiling two tackles.

A native of Glassboro, New Jersey, Johnson's best season was in 2014 with the Lions, when he totaled 23 tackles and 6 sacks.

The 6-foot-4, 265-pound Johnson, who has also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Minnesota Vikings, has accumulated 61 tackles, to go along with 6 sacks, over his 8 NFL seasons.

The Saints have been seeking help at defensive end since losing Alex Okafor to a season-ending injury in Week 11, while rookie Trey Hendrickson is also dealing with an ankle injury.

The 28-year old Harris, who played for the Saints from 2012-2014, was on the Saints' on five different occasions this season.
