New Orleans Saints cornerback Patrick Robinson has been placed on injured reserve with a broken ankle according to multiple report. The news was first reported by the NFL Network.

The injury was believed to be an ankle sprain, but further tests revealed Robinson suffered a broken ankle in Sunday's win in Atlanta.

Robinson's absence will be felt by a struggling Saints secondary. New Orleans pass defense through 3 games ranks 30th in the NFL.

Signed in the offseason to be the "slot" cornerback, Robinson had performed well defending the opposing slot receivers. Now the Saints secondary will turn to PJ Williams, who struggled at the CB2 spot on Sunday.
