Saints Kicker Will Lutz Earns NFC Special Teams POW…Again

New Orleans Saints kicker Will Lutz was awarded the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honor today, the second time he's earned the distinction in the last three weeks.

Lutz was fantastic in Sunday's win over the Seattle Seahawks, making all 4 of his field goal attempts, including a 53 yarder in the first half.

With the honor, Lutz joins a swank list in Saints history.

As Mike Triplett of espn points out, Lutz is the third Saints rookie in franchise history to earn two player of the week honors in the same season.

In 2006, running back Reggie Bush won NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors twice, and in 2009, punter Thomas Morstead took home the special teams Player of the Week on two occasions.

Lutz, a 22 year old out of Georgia State, joined the Saints just before the season opener after impressing the Saints with an open workout that coach Sean Payton claimed was one of the most impressive he'd ever seen.

For the season, Lutz is 11-15 on FG attempts, and a perfect 22-22 on PATs.
