New Orleans Saints kicker Wil Lutz signed a 5 year extension with the team yesterday.

Early reports were the deal would make him the highest paid kicker in league history.

Today, the terms of the deal were revealed.

Lutz, 24, can earn up to $20.25 million over the life of the contract, which is the highest ever overall total value for a kicker.

His signing bonus is $5.25 million, while he gets $9.2 million guaranteed, all to be paid out over the next two seasons.

The only kicker with more guaranteed money on their current contract is Baltimore All-Pro Justin Tucker at $10.8 million.

Lutz's average yearly salary is $4.05 million, 5th most among current kickers in the league.

In 2018, Lutz nailed 28 of 30 field goals, giving him the most accurate single season field goal percentage in franchise history.

Earning the kicking job after a tryout in 2016 that coach Sean Payton called "the best kicking workout (he'd) ever seen", Lutz has been a staple at the position for New Orleans since, making 87 field goals in 100 attempts.
