Good news, Saints fans. Junior Galette won't require surgery for his pectoral injury, and Sean Payton actually gave an injury update.

Well, sort of. Payton said the team was "optimistic" about his edge rusher's chances of being able to contribute in training camp. The Saints will need his presence on the line for sure, even if they drafted Hau'oli Kikaha and picked up some other pieces to plug in along the line. You can't buy beef for cheap, so Payton will be watching Galette's progress closely.

“I think all along, we’ve kind of just been wanting to make sure enough eyes were on him, kind of do the best thing here as we approach this break," Payton said.

Galette led the team last year with 10 sacks and needs to live up to his $5,450,000 cap hit. Getting on the field early in training camp would help get him up to speed with all the new pieces on defense and the adjustments in scheme and playbook.

It's not often that Sean Payton gives updates on injuries. It's also not often that the updates are good either. Enjoy both of those things rolled into one, Saints fans.
