Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook took home NBA MVP honors last night at the NBA Awards Show.

The announcement was no surprise, as Westbrook averaged a triple-double last season (31.6 points, 10.4 assists, 10.7 rebounds), making him a shoe-in to win the award.

An NBA regular season award, the MVP was officially handed out over two months since the regular season ended, but Westbrook's emotional speech made it worth the wait.

A fiery, demonstrative player on the court, Westbrook has always been cool off it. Seeing him go through deep emotion as he thanks his family is awesome.
