LSU wide receiver Russell Shepard was ruled ineligible by the NCAA a few weeks before the season started for breaking an NCAA rule that bars discussing ongoing investigations with teammates. Shepard and the Tigers have been awaiting to hear when the NCAA would cap his punishment, making him eligible to play again.

According to an AP report, an anonymous source has informed them the NCAA will lift the suspension after Week 3, making Shepard eligible to play in Week 4 when the Tigers travel to Morgantown to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Shepard will miss Saturday's home opener against Northwestern State, and next Thursday's game in Starkville against Mississippi State.
