The Kansas City Royals are the World Series Champions for the first time in 30 years.

Christian Colon singled to drive in pinch runner Jared Dyson in the 12th inning and Lorenzo Cain put the game away with a bases clearing double  as the Royals came from behind to beat the New York Mets 7-2 to win the World Series in five games.

It looked as though the series would be headed back to Kansas City as New York starter Matt Harvey mowed down the Royals through eight innings.  But, leading 2-0, Harvey issued a leadoff walk to Lorenzo Cain, who promptly stole second and scored on Eric Hossmer's double to left.  Reliever Jeruys Familia got Matt Moustakas on a grounder, moving Hossmer to third.  Salvador Perez then grounded to David Wright and Hossmer scored after the out as first baseman Lucas Duda threw wildly to the plate, tying the score.

The blown save for Familia was his third of the series, a World Series first.

Perez led off the 12th with a single and Dyson replaced him and quickly stole second against losing pitcher Addison Reed.  Colon, batting for winning pitcher Luke Hochevar, made the most of his first postseason at bat with the base hit.  Paulo Orlando reached on Daniel Murphy's error and Escobar followed with a double for an insurance run.  Ben Zobrist was walked intentionally and Cain then doubled into the left center gap to make it a five run inning.

Wade Davis allowed a two out single in the bottom of twelfth but then got Wilmer Flores on a called third strike to end it

The Mets got a leadoff home run in the first inning from Curtis Granderson, his third of the series and added another run off starter Edinson Volquez on Duda's sacrifice fly.  Harvey made that lead stand up until the ninth when Kansas City rallied as they have done so many times during the postseason.

Volquez allowed just two hits through six innings and the Mets had just one hit over the next five innings.
