The Kansas City Royals and Toronto Blue Jays fought off elimination in the American League, while the Chicago Cubs and New Mets grabbed leads in the National League in Major League playoff action on Monday.

In Houston, the Kansas City Royals scored the last seven runs of the game, including five in the eighth, and two in the ninth, to capture a 9-6 come-from-behind victory over the Astros, to even their best-of-five game American League Division Series, 2-2.

In Arlington, Texas, the Toronto Blue Jays tied up their series with the Texas Rangers, 2-2, after capturing an 8-4 win in game four.

In National League action, the Chicago Cubs outscored the St. Louis Cardinals, 8-6, to take a 2-1 lead in their best-of-five game NLDS.

Meanwhile, the New York Mets are also up 2-1 in their series with the Los Angeles Dodgers, after securing a 13-7 win in game three.
