The defending national champions weren't selected to play in the NCAA tournament.

They obviously didn't want to play in the NIT.

Robert Morris, the regular season champion of the Northeast Conference, shocked the Kentucky Wildcats in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament, 59-57 in Moon Township, PA.

Mike McFadden hit two free throws with 8.7 seconds remaining to get the win for the Colonials (24-10).  Kyle Wiltjer missed a three pointer that would have won the game for Kentucky, who trailed by as many as 13 points in the second half but never could grab the lead.

Lucky Jones led Robert Morris with 15 points.

The game was played on Robert Morris' home court because Rupp Arena is being used for the NCAA tournament.
