Kendall Rogers of d1baseball is reporting Tennessee Tech head coach Matt Bragga will be named head coach at Rice University, replacing the legendary Wayne Graham.

Bragga caught the nation's attention by leading the Ohio Valley Conference regular season champions to the Super Regional Round of the NCAA Baseball Tournament for the first time in school history.

The last two years with the Eagles have been especially solid for Bragga.  He led Tennessee Tech to a 41-21 record and a regional appearance in 2017 before improving to 53-12 this past season.  The 45 year old Bragga complied a 445-382-2 record in his 15 seasons in Cookeville.

Rice flirted with TCU pitching coach Kirk Saarloos, who elected to stay in Fort Worth.  According to Rogers, TCU assistant Bill Mosiello and Southeastern Louisiana head coach Matt Riser were the other two finalists.
