NBA guard Jimmer Fredette is re-signing with the New Orleans Pelicans, according to Yahoo sports.

Fredette's contract is under the confines of an injury hardship exception, according to the report.

An injury hardship is a temporary roster spot that allows a team to go over a maximum of 15 roster spots until a player returns from injury.

New Orleans (0-6) is currently without point guards Tyreke Evans (knee) and Norris Cole (ankle), while Jrue Holiday is on a minute restriction, and not playing in both games of scheduled back to backs.

Fredette spent last season with the Pelicans, appearing in 50 games, averaging 3.6 points in a little over 10 minutes per contest.

The 26 year old, 6'2 guard was a superstar in college at BYU as a prominent scorer. His skills haven't translated as well to the NBA since being drafted 10th overall by the Sacramento Kings in the 2011 draft.

Fredette signed with the D-League Westchester Knicks after they selected him 2nd in the NBADL draft a few weeks ago after being released by the San Antonio Spurs.
