New Orleans Pelicans owner Gayle Benson has been unwavering in her dedication to making her NBA team a championship contender.

Since the team's season ended in April, she's proven it.

Hiring David Griffin as the VP of basketball operations, then renowned trainer and head of medical staff Aaron Nelson, and most recently, Trajan Langdon as the team's new general manager, Benson is spending serious coin.

Following the thrilling NBA Draft Lottery last week in which New Orleans won the #1 overall pick and the right to select phenom Zion Williamson, reports of Benson also spending $800,000 in facility upgrades were discussed among NBA pundits.

Today, Pelicans beat writer Andrew Lopez of The Times Picayune, who appeared on Gus Kattengell's The Sports Hangover radio show on ESPN 100.3 New Orleans, reports the facility upgrades are much more expensive than previously believed.

The Pelicans practice/training facility is new, opening its doors on Airline drive next to the Saints practice facility in 2013.

Six years later, a major upgrade to the training facility, headed by new trainer and head of medical staff Aaron Nelson, is currently underway.

Mrs. Benson is truly putting her money where her mouth is.
