Former LSU All-American and current All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson will be suspended the first 6 games of the 2019 season for violating the NFL's drug policy on PEDs (performance enhancing drugs), according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

The Arizona Cardinals star will miss games versus the Lions, Ravens, Panthers, Seahawks, Bengals and Falcons.

Per Schefter, the exact nature of the PED violation, as well as when it occurred, is unknown.

Peterson reportedly dropped an appeal of the suspension recently, and the official announcement from the NFL on his punishment will come out next week.

The suspension will cost him $3,882,352 in salary.

A two-time 1st team All-American at LSU, Peterson was selected 5th overall by Arizona in the 2011 draft.

He has been selected to the Pro Bowl every year of his career, a streak that will end next season. Per league rules, any player suspended for PEDs is ineligible for the Pro Bowl.
