For the first time, instant replay is being used in the Sun Belt Conference Baseball Tournament.

And, Texas State is happy about that.

A reversed call at home plate in the bottom of the eighth inning proved to be the winning run as the Bobcats defeated Little Rock 3-2 Thursday night at J. I. Clements Stadium in Statesboro, GA

The win advances the Bobcats to the quarterfinals where they will meet #1 seed Coastal Carolina at 3:00 CDT.

Theodore Hoffman reached on a two out single and went to second on a wild pitch.  He then broke from second on Luke Sherley's infield single.  Hoffman was caught in a rundown between third and home.  A throw got past the catcher as Hoffman was retreating to third base and Hoffman reversed course and was called out at the plate.  But Coach Ty Harrington asked for a replay and the call was reversed.

Earlier, Arkansas State exploded for eleven runs in the fifth inning and hammered Georgia State 21-4.  The Red Wolves got just ten hits, but seven were for extra bases and they took advantage of walks and hit batsmen.  Alex Howard had a three run homer and Drew Tipton hit a grand slam.

Arkansas State will now take on #2 seed UTA at 11:30 today.
