Remi Ayodele (#92) in 2009 with the New Orleans Saints

 

The New Orleans Saints cut 15 players on Monday, including defensive tackle Remi Ayodele, who was looking to make the club after spending a year away.

After beginning his career with the Dallas Cowboys in 2007, Ayodele spent the next three seasons of his career with the Saints, from 2008-2010, including the Super Bowl championship team in 2009.

In his three season in New Orleans, Ayodele accumulated 70 tackles and 2.5 sacks, including the 2010 season, when his had the best year of his career, with 37 tackles.

Ayodele signed with the Minnesota Vikings prior to the 2011 season, where had had 15 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

Also on Monday, the Saints cut quarterback Luke McCown, tight end Jake Byrne, wide receivers Marques Clark, Kevin Hardy and Derek Moye, offensive linemen Hutch Eckerson, Paul Fenaroli, and Brian Folkerts, defensive end Donavan Robinson, defensive tackle Swanson Miller, linebacker Aaron Tevis, cornerbacks Kamaal McIlwain and Cord Parks and safety Johnny Thomas.

In other Saints' news, due to the uncertainly of Tropical Storm Isaac, the team will head to Cincinnati tonight, where they will practice on Tuesday and Wednesday, before heading to Nashville, Tennessee on Thursday, for their pre-season finale against the Tennessee Titans.
