The Ragin' Cajuns picked up their first win in Sun Belt play in stylish fashion. Arkansas State thought they had the win, but Louisiana stole it.

It was a game of quarters. Louisiana claimed the first quarter, 21-12, Arkansas State came back in the second, 22-15, then the Red Wolves jumped on the Cajuns for a 19-9 third quarter. Louisiana went into the fourth quarter trailing by eight, and they ended up winning by the same margin, 80-72.

The Ragin' Cajuns surged in the final quarter to score 35 points, throwing shovel-fulls of dirt on Arkansas State's grave. Three Louisiana players combined to put on a show.

Jaylyn Gordon (21 points, 6 assists), Jasmine Thomas (21 pts, 5 rebs) and Simone Fields (19 pts, 4 rebs) led the charge for the Cajuns. They turned it on in conference play and helped the team get past the bullies on the block for the last few years.

Defensively, the Cajuns forced Arkansas State into 22 turnovers and they outscored the Redwolves, 18-5, in points off turnovers. It was the difference in the game.

Head Coach Garry Brodhead talked about how the offense was ahead of the defense, but it seems like the defenders are starting to catch up now. If this team catches stride in conference play, the rest of the Sun Belt needs to beware.
