Ragin’ Cajun Softballers Ellyson, Dalton Honored By Sun Belt

Louisiana Ragin' Cajun pitcher Summer Ellyson and shortstop Alissa Dalton have been named the Sun Belt Conference pitcher and player of the week.

Ellyson's 25 wins on the season leads Division 1. She also is 4th in the NCAA in strikeouts (218) and 9th in ERA (1.09).

In 14 innings versus Appalachian State last weekend, Ellyson struck out 19 batters, not allowing an earned run, helping the Cajuns procure their 52nd consecutive conference series win.

For Ellyson, it marks her 5th Conference Pitcher of the week honor this year.

Dalton hit .615 last week, putting together two multiple-RBI and three multiple-hit games. She batted 8 times on Saturday in a double-header versus App State, reaching bases every time.

It's her 2nd Conference Player of the Week honor this season.
