Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun softball team opened up Sun Belt Conference play this weekend with a road series sweep of the Georgia State Panthers in dominant fashion.

After winning a Saturday double-header, the Cajuns closed out the series with an authoritative 13-0 win in 5 innings, via the mercy rule.

Louisiana registered at least two hits in all 5 innings, finishing with 13 hits total. Sara Corbello led the way with 4 RBI and a homerun, while Kelsey Vincent tallied 3 RBI on 2 hits and a homer.

Haley Hayden and Shelbi Redfearn added homeruns as well. It was Hayden's 10th homer of the year. That's currently best in the Sun Belt.

Christina Hamilton earned the victory, throwing 4 complete innings, allowing only 2 hits. Jordan Wallace finished off the Panthers in the 5th, fanning two batters in the process.

With the victory, the Cajuns improve to 22-6-1 on the season. Next up, a Wednesday road trip to Houston to battle Cougars for a midweek doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m., with pregame beginning at 3:45. Catch all the action on our sister station, Talk Radio 960, and talkradio960.com. Steve Peloquin has the call.
