Ragin’ Cajun DL Karmichael Dunbar Nominated For Wuerffel Trophy
Louisiana Ragin' Cajun senior defensive lineman Karmichael Dunbar is 1 of 88 nominees for the prestigious Wuerffel Trophy, the All Sports Association announced today.
Named after Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Danny Wuerffel, the Wuerffel trophy is awarded an FBS player who "best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement".
As a two-time member of the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner's List and one of the most respected player in the locker room, Dunbar is an easy nominee for the award.
Semifinalists for the Wuerffel trophy will be announced on November 3rd, with 3 finalists being announced three weeks later on November 23rd.
Playing in all 12 games last year as a junior, Dunbar accumulated 23 tackles, including 3 for losses.
His family is from Opelousas, Louisiana, but Dunbar played high school ball Prior Lake High in Minnesota while his Dad, Karl, was coaching for the NFL's Minnesota Vikings.
