Louisiana Ragin' Cajun senior defensive lineman Bennie Higgins, a recent graduate, and father of two young children, got a surprising phone call last Thursday while at practice.

His home was on fire.

Fortunately, no one was hurt in the fire.

Unfortunately, Higgins and his family lost all of their belongings.

He sat down with me for a 1 on 1, sharing his perspective on the situation, preparing for his senior year, how football kept him off the streets and prepared him for the kind of adversity he's facing now, why family is everything and more.
