Throughout the season we'll be keeping an eye on not only the Pelicans but the Top 5 in the NBA on a weekly basis, you can check out the entire list here.

The New Orleans Pelicans had a better week last week going 2-1 with a win to begin the week at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves, then a disappointing loss at the Brooklyn Nets, and then finishing the week beating up a bad the Cleveland Cavaliers.

With the 2-1 record last week New Orleans rose in the Weekly Power Rankings from 24th to 22nd and they're 18-22.

Here is this week's Top 5:

  1. Milwaukee Bucks (27-11)-Steady at 1
  2. Golden State Warriors (26-14)-Steady at 2
  3. Toronto Raptors (30-12)-Steady at 3
  4. Denver Nuggets (26-11)-Steady at 4
  5. Indiana Pacers (26-13)-Steady at 5

The Pelicans are starting to get a little bit healthier as they've gotten their point guard Elfrid Payton back in the mix which has certainly helped.

This week New Orleans has three games with two being played at the Smoothie King Center early in the week before hitting the road. Monday they'll face the Memphis Grizzlies (18-21) and then they'll welcome in Cleveland (8-32) on Wednesday. The Pels wrap up the week on Saturday in Minnesota (19-21) who will be looking revenge after New Orleans beat them last week. This has the potential to be a get right week for the Pelicans facing three teams under .500 with two of those three games at home.
