The Pittsburgh Pirates have won the bidding rights for Korean infielder Jung-ho Kang.

The winning bid was said to be in the vicinity of $5 million

The 27-year old Kang hit a .356, while clubbing 40 home runs in 117 games for the Nexen Heroes of the Korea baseball Organization in 2014.

The Pirates will now have a 30-day window to sign Kang to a contract, or their money will be returned and Kang will have to wait at least one more year to play in the U.S.
