PHOTO ALBUM: Ascension Episcopal’s First State Championship Game

Ascension Episcopal played a historic season in 2016. The finished the regular season undefeated, collected and outright district title and rode the momentum all the way to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

All of those experiences were firsts for the young program. The Blue Gators have only been playing football for seven years, but the Desormeaux brothers built a title contender in a short period of time. In 2016, Head Coach Matt Desormeaux took over where his brother, Mike, left off, and he took the team all the way to their first state championship game.

This was the Blue Gators' first trip to the Dome, but it won't be their last. The entire Ascension Episcopal community should be proud of the 2016 team. Only 18 teams in the state make it to the Dome, maybe next time they will take back the hardware. Make sure to share all the memories, and photos, with your closest football friends.
