As players prepare for the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow this week, the PGA announced it is making a move.

The Championship is moving from its traditional August date to May and will be contested between the Masters and the US Open.

It will be the first time the traditional order has been altered since 1971.

The Players Championship, which had moved to a May date eleven years ago, will move to March, where it had traditionally been played two weeks before the Masters.

The 2018 championship will be the final one to be played in August.  It is scheduled for Bellerive in St. Louis.  The 2019 championship is at Bethpage Black in Long Island
