The New Orleans Pelicans parted ways with two of their players today, sending them to the waiver wire.

Third year small forward Darius Miller and undrafted rookie power forward/center Patric Young were waived by New Orleans, trimming the Pelicans roster to 13.

Miller, drafted by New Orleans in 2012 (2nd round, 46th overall), never proved himself to be a viable contributor. Appearing in 102 games in the last 2+ seasons, Miller averaged 3.1 points and 1.3 rebounds in 14.3 minutes per game.

Young dressed for several games this year, but never saw the court this regular season. He was buried on a depth chart of bigs that include Anthony Davis, Omer Asik, Ryan Anderosn, Luke Babbitt, Alexis Ajinca and Jeff Withey.

With starting shooting guard Eric Gordon injured and out indefinitely with a torn labrum in his shoulder, today's waives could be part of a bigger play to free up roster space for a sign or a trade of a wing player.
