It was certainly a tough season for the New Orleans Pelicans especially coming off all the success they had as a team last year sweeping the Portland Trailblazers in round one of the NBA Playoffs. They also took a game at home from the Golden State Warriors.

Injuries really derailed this season for New Orleans and then star Anthony Davis demanded a trade about a week or so before the deadline. As you know, he wasn't moved because GM Dell Demps wouldn't do business with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Demps would be let go after the trade deadline and now that the season is over the Pelicans have found their newest front office executive in David Griffin as first reported by Adrian Wojnarowski.

It was originally thought he would be the President of Basketball Operations but his likely title will be...

This is a solid hire by the Pelicans as it gives them instant credibility in the front office and a guy who has a good reputation around the league. He's also won a title with the Cleveland Cavaliers constructing a roster around the return of LeBron James.

However, during this past season, Griffin was on NBA TV and was asked what he would be looking for in return for Anthony Davis in a trade:

I hope he's able to get more than that... Despite that, I still like the hire for New Orleans.
