The New Orleans Pelicans defeat the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday 121-117.

The Pelicans and Clippers got out to a hot start on Monday on the offensive end and Julius Randle specifically who had 10 of the Pelicans first 19 points to give them a 19-15 lead in the first quarter. Doc Rivers then called a timeout, after that the Clips went on an 11-0 run to take a 26-19 lead right back.

The defense would be lackluster on both ends as the Clippers would lead 36-32 with Julius Randle and Jahlil Okafor putting in some really good work for New Orleans.

In the second quarter, Anthony Davis would take over after a slow start by carrying the team with 13 points. At the break, the Pelicans would grab the lead by outscoring the Clippers 34-27 and lead 66-63.

New Orleans took really good care of the basketball by committing only two turnovers while LA had 10 in which the Pels scored 18 points off those turnovers.

New Orleans would open the second half on a 7-0 run to give them a 73-63 lead and eventually build the lead up to 20 points at one point at 92-72. However, the Clippers would dig into that lead late in the third quarter by ripping off a 16-2 run to cut the lead to single digits at 94-88.

As we headed for the fourth quarter the Clips grabbed the lead a couple minutes in with Danilo Gallinari hitting a three-pointer plus a foul called on Nikola Mirotic 101-100. Thankfully for New Orleans that is the last lead, the Clippers would have in this one as the Pels pulled away and held on late for the 121-117 win.

Anthony Davis was a man among boys in this one as he poured in a game-high 46 points, 16 rebounds, four assists, and three steals. He got some help from Julius Randle who enjoys playing in the Staple Center adding 27 points and Jrue Holiday dropped 19 in an "off-night".

With the win, New Orleans improves to 21-23 and secures the season series win against the Clippers 2-1 which could be important down the stretch of the season for tie-breakers.

The team hits the hardwood next on Wednesday in Golden State to take on the Warriors at 9:30 p.m.
