Anthony Davis wasn't sure if he'd play Sunday night in Denver after battling flu like symptoms all day. In the end, he managed to play in the 1st and 4th quarter, putting together an awesome performance.

Davis finished the game with 27 points on 9 of 13 shooting to go along with 6 rebounds and 4 blocks, helping the New Orleans Pelicans defeat the Denver Nuggets 130-125.

"I thought Anthony started out great," said New Orleans coach Alvin Gentry. "He's been sick all day. He didn't even know if if he'd play tonight. The boost that he gave us in the first quarter was big and obviously coming back at the end, he was really good."

Joining Davis in the double-digit scoring column was Tyreke Evans (21 points), Jrue Holiday (21 points), Eric Gordon (20 points), Ryan Anderson (16 points) and Norris Cole (10 points).

With Davis off the floor in the 3rd, the Pelicans won the quarter by 10 points, putting together a decent defensive effort after giving up a whopping 74 points in the first half.

"I thought we started the game with the right energy and the right attitude," said Gentry. "We did a good job of moving the basketball. (We're) still struggling a little bit defensively but I thought the effort was there."

New Orleans ends their 5 game road trip at 2-3, improving to 8-19 overall with the victory. They return home for a Wednesday matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers (11-18).
