The New Orleans Pelicans continued their troubling trend of losing to the NBA's bottom dwellers, helping the New York Knicks end a 16 game losing streak on Monday.

New York took advantage of a slow start by the Pels, earning a 99-92 victory over a New Orleans team playing without it's two best players in Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday.

With the loss, New Orleans ends a 5 game road trip with a 2-3 record, earning two wins over a hot Pistons team, and a talented Raptors team. However, the three losses came to the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, and the Knicks. All three currently hold the worst records in the Eastern Conference.

Despite the absence of Davis and Holiday, the Pelicans earned a gutsy win on Sunday in Toronto, continuing to show they can compete with some of the best in the league. Unfortunately, Monday further proved that New Orleans has yet to find any kind of consistency.

At the halfway point of the NBA season, New Orleans stands at 20-21, three and a half games behind the Phoenix Suns who currently sit at 8th in the Western Conference.

With an expectation to reach the postseason this year, head coach Monty Williams and the Pelicans must find consistency and learn how to beat less talented teams.

If they can't, this season will be regarded as a failure, which likely means changes.
