Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans keep their playoff hopes alive with an authoritative 110-88 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday afternoon.

In only 37 minutes of work, Davis put up a game-high 28 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and a block. With the game firmly in hand, Davis sat on the bench for a good chunck of the fourth quarter, enjoying what unfolded in front of him.

“It was amazing. To see those guys come out there and play as hard as they did, it was fun to watch," Davis said of his reserve teammates. "It’s our job as starters to try to put teams away early, so those guys can come in and continue to do that. In case one of our starters gets in foul trouble, they come in and play with high confidence, the way they did tonight.”

With the victory, New Orleans pulls within 2 games of the Oklahoma City Thunder for 8th place in the Western conference, about to embark on a 3 game road swing.

Nine games remain for the Pelicans to try and close the gap, without much room for error. New Orleans is 14-21 on the road this season, with 6 of their remaining 9 games taking place away from the Smoothie King Center.

"We needed this win and two," said Davis of the two game winning streak. "We wanted to play well going into this road trip."
