After much trade speculation, New Orleans guard Tyreke Evans is still with the Pelicans.

Perhaps any potential trade for Evans was thwarted but his current health.

His head coach, Alvin Gentry, appearing on ESPN's Zach Lowe's Podcast, explained Evan's current state.

"He's not going to be ready for the start of the season, explained Gentry. "So that's hard. He won't be ready for the start of the season. He's in a rehab situation. So, I think for us, we've just got to move forward with our season. And then if he comes back and he's able to help us, I think that just adds icing to the cake."

Evans only missed 3 games in the 2014-15 season, undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery the following offseason.

Last October, he injured the knee after a collision in training camp with center Kendrick Perkins, requiring another surgery.

Evans missed 57 games last season, averaging 17.8 points, 7.7 assists and 6.1 rebounds a contest.

The 26 year old enters the final year of his contract next season.
