The injury bug has bitten the Pelicans before the season even begins. New Orleans power forward and three point specialist Ryan Anderson will miss one to three weeks with a chip fracture in a toe on his right foot.

New Orleans made the announcement around 4:45 today, a little over two hours before their regular season tips-off against the Indiana Pacers.

Anderson and the club aren't sure when the injury occurred, only saying that he began feeling discomfort in his toe during practice. After a medical evaluation, it was determined he had a chip fracture.

Anderson's rebounding and three-point ability will be missed. Anthony Morrow, another three-point specialist, will likely be counted on to stretch the opposing defense during Anderson's absence.
