For the second time in less than 4 months, New Orleans Pelicans center Alexis Ajinça underwent patellar tendon surgery on his knee, the team announced today.

The standard timetable to return to play from that surgery is 4-6 months.

Ajinça will now officially miss the entire 2017-2018 season.

Knee tendinitis forced Ajinça to have two bilateral knee injections in October, just before the start of the season.

In early December, he underwent patellar tendon surgery on his right knee. Today, it was the same surgery on his left knee.

The 29 year old native of France is under contract through next season.
