You can add the Driesell Award to the list of honors coming Elfrid Payton's way.

The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns point guard was named the recipient of the Lefty Driesell Award, symbolic of the nation's best defender.

Payton had already been named a finalist for the award as well as the Lou Henson award for the nation's top mid major player.  Payton is also a two-time first team All-Conference selection as well as the Sun Belt's defensive player of the year.

The junior guard averaged 19 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals per game for the Cajuns, who won the Sun Belt Conference Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2005.
