The Orlando Magic, after suffering through a tough year in 2014-15, are 11-9 on the season, and second year point guard Elfrid Payton is one of the reasons.

Payton obviously worked on his shooting in the off season.  His free throw percentage of 71.4% is considerably better than his 55 percent from a year ago.  And, his three point percentage has gone up as well   This season he's at 33.3 percent, much better than his 26.2 percent a season ago.  His scoring has risen to nearly eleven points per game after averaging fewer than nine points last season.

The former Louisiana Ragin' Cajun's overall field goal percentage still isn't good, but his ability to shoot the three point basket means teams can't just leave him alone and clog the inside as they did last season.
