It will be the Oregon Ducks taking on the Ohio St. Buckeyes in the very first College Football Playoff National Championship Presented by AT&T, scheduled for Monday, January 11, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Oregon advanced to the national championship game with an impressive 59-20 win over Florida St. in the Rose Bowl on Thursday, while Ohio St. qualified by downing Alabama, 42-35, in the Sugar Bowl.

Both teams are 13-1 on the season, and both were among the preseason favorites to win college football's first playoff, before suffering early season losses, with the Ducks losing to Arizona, 31-27, back on October 2, and the Buckeyes falling to Virginia Tech, 35-21, back on September 6.

Oregon has won 9-straight, while Ohio St. will bring a 12-game win streak into the match-up.

Ohio St. has 14 National Championships to their credit, with the last coming back in 2002.

The last time the Buckeyes were in the national title game was in 2006, when they lost to the Florida Gators, who were then coached by Urban Meyer, now their current coach, in the BCS National Championship.

Oregon, who lost to Auburn, 22-19, in the 2010 BCS National Championship, will be looking to claim their first-ever national crown.

The game will mark the first time since 2005 that the SEC does not have a representative in the National Championship.
