Friday night was the first night of league play in the Sun Belt and close games were the norm:  Here's what happened:

TROY 7, LITTLE ROCK 6--Darren Osby allowed just one run in seven innings of work to lead the Trojans of Troy to the win.  Troy broke the game open with a four run seventh then held on as Little Rock scored five times in the final two innings before Marc Skinner came on for the save.

GEORGIA SOUTHERN 8, SOUTH ALABAMA 5--The Jaguars chased Eagles' starter Evan Challenger in the fourth inning and led 5-2.  But the Eagles got a pair of runs in the fifth, seventh and eighth innings to take the come from behind win.  Jacob Condra-Bogan threw 3.2 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win.  Jags' starter Randy Bell took the loss.

UTA 10, GEORGIA STATE 7--Kadon Simmons recovered from a first inning grand slam home run by Ryan Blanton as UTA rallied for the win.  Simmons pitched seven innings and did not allow a run after the first.  Omar Salinas homered and drove in four runs for the winners.

TEXAS STATE 5, COASTAL CAROLINA 4 (14 innings)--Ryan Newman's fifth hit of the game was a walkoff homer leading off the 14th as the Bobcats came from behind to get the win.  Alex Cunningham allowed just one run in 6.2 innings for the defending champions, but the Bobcats were able to tie the game against the Chanticleer's bullpen.  Each team scored a run in the 12th before Newman led off with the homer off Patrick Orlando.

LOUISIANA 3, APPALACHIAN STATE 0--Gunnner Leger and Wyatt Marks combined on a four hitter as the Cajuns got the shutout.  Ishmael Edwards and Steven Sensley each homered for the Cajuns.  Leger has now allowed just one run in his last 27.2 innings.  The Cajun duo struck out 14 Mountaineers on the night.

ULM and Arkansas State were postponed because of weather.  They'll play a doubleheaer today.
