Through the first three weeks of the 2017 college softball season, a player from the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns has been the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week award each week.

Junior outfielder Kelli Martinez won the award after the first week, with junior shortstop D.J. Sanders taking home the honors in each of the past two weeks.

Well, it's probably safe to say that a Louisiana player will win the award for a 4th-consecutive week, after the incredible weekend that catcher Lexie Comeaux had.

A junior from Tomball, Texas, Comeaux had a weekend players dream of, over the weekend in the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational at Lamson Park.

In 6 games, Comeaux went 9-for-15, to go along with 6 home runs, 2 doubles, 4 walks, and 15 runs batted in.

Looking even deeper, Comeaux, over her last 7 games, has gone 11-for-17 with 16 RBI's, raising her batting average almost 200 points in the process.

Through the first 21 games of 2017, Comeaux is hitting a .370 with 7 homers and 21 RBI's.

Understand, we're about at the one-third mark of the season. So, Comeaux in on pace for about 21 homers and 63 RBI's.

Keep in mind, nobody hit more than 19 homers for Louisiana last season.

Those are pretty lofty numbers however, especially for a player who entered the year with only two career at-bats, so let's not look that far ahead, and instead just appreciate what she has done so far.

Comeaux's home run number is second on the squad, and her RBI number ranks tied for third.

The Sun Belt Conference will officially announce the Community Coffee Player of the Week on Tuesday, but trust me, it's a mere formality.

Sorry to ruin the drama, but Lexie Comeaux win the award.

And to think, the catching position was a big question mark for Louisiana coming into the season.
