Jalen Nixon may not have had a high completion percentage in last Tuesday night's loss to Arkansas State, but he recorded over 200 yards rushing and passing in that 37-27 game.

His performance, which included two touchdown passes and one touchdown rushing, was good enough to earn him the state's Offensive Player of the Week award by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.

The Carencro junior amassed 253 yards through the air and another 201 on the ground, becoming only the second player in school history to get more than 200 yards passing and rushing in the same game.  Brian Mitchell is the only other Cajun to accomplish that feat.

He completed only 17-44 passes in the game, but threw touchdown passes to Elijah McGuire and Al Riles, while scoring himself on a 75 yard run.

Southern's Daniel Brown, who had four tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble against Texas Southern, was the Defensive Player of the Week, while Ed Eagan of Northwestern State, who had a kickoff return of 97 yards for a touchdown, won the Special Teams award.
