UL senior shortstop Nerissa Myers

Shortstop Nerissa Myers, and pitcher Jordan Wallace, of Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun softball team, were honored as the Sun Belt Conference Player, and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, on Monday.

Louisiana swept a three-game, weekend, Sun Belt Conference series from the North Texas Mean Green over the weekend, running their current win streak to seven consecutive games, and Myers and Jordan were two big reasons why.

Myers, a senior shortstop from Petal, Miss, went 6-for-9, while blasting three homers, and driving home eight runs, in her first games since February.

In her first at-bat in more than five weeks, Myers homered in the opening inning of the Cajuns' 10-0 win over North Texas on Saturday.

Wallace, a sophomore from Weatherford, Texas, was fabulous over the weekend, going 2-0, with a save. In 14 scoreless innings, Wallace struck out 32 batters, allowing only four hits, while improving her record to 15-6 on the season.

For Wallace, it's the fifth time in her career that she was named the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week.

The Cajuns return to action on Wednesday, hosting Southern Miss, in a non-conference doubleheader at Lamson Park.
