NCAA Approves 20-Second Pitch Clock For Baseball
Expect the pace of play to be improved in college baseball during the 2020 season.
The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel recently approved a 20-second action rule that will be enforced before all pitches in the 2019-20 academic year.
If the pitcher is at fault for violating the 20-second action rule, a ball will be awarded in the count.
Conversely, if the hitter violates the 20-second action rule, a strike will be awarded in the count.
Some school will have a visible clock to keep time between pitches. However, that will not be mandatory.
If no visible clock is used, and umpire will keep track of the time on the field.
