The NBA released its weekly Power Rankings via ESPN today and don't look now but the New Orleans Pelicans are streaking towards a decent seed in the Western Conference playoffs.

Last week the Pelicans struggled, as they dropped all three of their games for a rough 0-3 week. They were narrowly defeated by the Portland Trailblazers, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Oklahoma City Thunder, all by single digits. The really tough part of it was that two of the three games were at the friendly confines of the Smoothie King Center.

As it sits right now the Pels hold the eighth seed in the Western Conference, half a game behind the Minnesota Timberwolves for 7th and only a single game ahead of the Denver Nuggets who are 9th.

The team has been steady in the rankings over the past few weeks, hovering just outside the top 10. This week they bumped down two spots from 11th to 13th as they look to rebound this week.

Here's what New Orleans has coming up this week:

  • Wednesday vs Memphis Grizzles-7pm
  • Friday at Phoenix Suns-9pm
  • Sunday at Golden State Warriors-7:30pm
