Former Louisiana Ragin' Cajun baseball player Chase Lambin recently sat down for an interview with Charlie Wilmoth, of mlbtraderumors.com.

Drafted by the New York Mets in the 34th round out of Louisiana in 2002, Lambin has played 11 seasons and 1,157 minor league games without appearing in a Major League Baseball game.

At age 34, Lambin is the oldest current minor-leaguer who has yet to appear in the big leagues.

In 2002, after transferring from Texas, Lambin came to Louisiana for his senior year and helped the Cajuns to 39 wins, and an NCAA Regional appearance,  hitting a .300, with 13 home runs, and 47 RBI's.

After being drafted by the Mets in 2002, Lambin spent five years with that organization, from 2002-2006. His best season was 2005, when he split the season between AA Binghamton and AAA Norfolk, hitting a combined .309, with 24 homers and 63 RBI's.

Since leaving the Mets' organization, Lambin has spent time with affiliates of the Marlins (2007-2008, 2012), Nationals (2010), Twins (2011), and Royals (2013), while also spending time in independent baseball, and in Japan in 2009.

Over his minor league career, which includes 639 games at the AAA level, Lambin has hit a .272, with 117 homes runs, along with 520 RBI's.

He's been productive, and he's come real close to making the big leagues, but he's currently a free agent, and time is not on his side.

If you're a sports fan, this is the type of guy you have to be pulling for.

All the work he's put in...all the bus rides...all the close calls. You can't help but hope that Lambin catches on with an affiliated team this season, that he produces, as he's normally done, and that he finally gets that call-up to Major League Baseball.

Lambin says in the interview that he thought he came the closest to getting the call up to the big leagues in 2005, and that he'd like to get into coaching after he finally calls it quits.

Before that happens, here's hoping he gets that call he's been waiting for for the past 12 years.

Good luck Chase! Cajun baseball fans are still rooting for you!
