Former St. Thomas More and LSU star Mikie Mahtook continues to put together a solid season in the minor leagues, as he continues his quest to make it back to Major League Baseball.

A Lafayette native, Mahtook is hitting for power for the Toledo Mud Hens, the AAA affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.

In 79 games this season, Mahtook has smashed 15 home runs, while driving in 45 runs.

In addition, Mahtook has compiled an on-base percentage of .367, and a slugging percentage of .486, while also stealing 13 bases.

For whatever reason Mahtook has been exceptionally good on the road, hitting .324 with 12 homers and 27 RBI's.

The 29-year old Mahtook began the season on the Tigers' roster, before being optioned to Toledo in early April.

In parts of five MLB seasons, Mahtook is hitting .235, to go along with 33 homers and 97 RBI's.

We wish Mahtook a quick return to MLB.
