The Ragin' Cajuns Men's basketball team (7-2) traveled to Ruston, LA to take on a Louisiana Tech squad who started the season 7-2 as well. Regardless, The Cajuns got it done tonight 75-71 and improved to 8-2 on the season.

Louisiana Tech lead the all-time series with UL 69-59 and even more impressive was that Tech has owned UL at home in Ruston. They lead the all-time series 42-15 coming into this game.

The Cajuns got off to a hot start with JaKeenan Gant leading the way early and Frank Bartley was chipping in helping him out as well. Gant had 10 and Bartley had 11 at the half. Other than that the scoring was pretty even.

For LA Tech they really struggled to score in the first half as the Cajuns defense was swarming and making it difficult for the Bulldogs. They were held to just 25 points but you had a feeling that they would make a run in the second half. UL lead 38-25 at the half.

Talking about making a run in the second half, boy did the Bulldogs but for the Cajuns they were able to score right along with LA Tech. Frank Bartley failed to score in the second half but Gant kept rolling and paced the team with 22 points on the night. Bryce Washington added a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds and Cedric Russell contributed 9 points off the bench.

The Ragin' Cajuns never trailed in this one but the Bulldogs would cut the lead to two at 71-69 late in the second half. However, when UL needed it most, their defense rose to the occasion getting two stops during a three possession span that took the steam out of La Tech's offense.

The Bulldogs offense would put up 46 points in that second half and were lead by Jalen Harris who poured in 19 points and DaQuan Bracey chipped in 14 points and 6 boards.

Both teams shot 50% from the field and LA Tech out-shot UL from downtown 54% compared to the Cajuns 32%. The Cajuns did control the boards 32-28 and forced 18 turnovers, that was the difference in the game.

What's on tap next for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns?

They'll be at the Cajun Dome, Saturday December 16th at 7pm to take on the New Orleans Privateers.
