It's a sad day in New Orleans and for Saints fans all across the country as one of their own is officially leaving. On Wednesday, it's being reported that Mark Ingram will be signing with the Baltimore Ravens.

The deal he received was for three years and $15M. You knew he wasn't going to be returning when New Orleans agreed to terms with Minnesota Vikings running back Latavius Murray on Tuesday.

Murray's deal is for four years and it's worth $14.4M, that's an average annual salary of $3.6M.

Where I think Saints fans will have most trouble with both deals and ultimately Mark Ingram leaving is that Ingram's average annual salary is $5M and if you're doing the math at home that's just $1.4M more than what they gave Murray.

Ingram was a first round draft choice by the Saints in the 2011 NFL Draft out of Alabama.

Over his first five seasons he was injured and under-performed as he averaged just 639 yards and failed to eclipse 1,000 yards in a season. However, in 2016 he broke out and rushed for 1,043 yards and in 2017 he put up the best year of his career when he rushed for over 1,200 yards and 12 touchdowns.

In addition, there's no denying the connection he and fellow running back Alvin Kamara had. Most would say they were glued together at the hip, they garnered their own running back tandem nickname "Boom and Zoom", and always conducted interviews together. It was like big bro and little bro with these two:

Ingram also fell just 89 yards shy of becoming the Saints all-time leading rusher... Best of luck in Baltimore!
