Mark Hudspeth's Ragin' Cajuns are preparing for a rivalry match with the ULM Warhawks, and it's homecoming on top of the regular madness.

Oh yeah, did we mention it's Halloween too. Coach Hudspeth hopes he has cause for costume.

"If we get a big win versus ULM, I may break out a costume," Hudspeth said.

An extended weekend helped the team recharge, and Hudspeth had some good news on the injury front. After seeing Jamal Robinson leave action with an injury to the same foot that sidelined him last year, Hud said the star receiver should be back and healthy for the Warhawks. Homecoming night for the senior? Robinson could have a sweet night on Halloween.

If the Cajuns want to stay away from frightening their fans, they'll have to stay away from the slow starts.

"We have not played well coming out of the gates...but boy, we're a fast finishing team," Hudspeth said. "That's one of our goals this week is to start fast and play four quarters."

The slow starts have heavily hampered the Cajuns, but Coach Hudspeth said the turnover margin (-8, worst in the Sun Belt) was 'the number one factor" in the rough beginning to the season. Even though Jalen Nixon's performance earned him LSWA Offensive Player of the Week accolades, his interceptions have cost the Cajuns dearly.

Hudspeth said they won't keep Nixon on a short leash like they did with Brooks Haack, who he admitted might have been pulled from his post too soon. They'll figure it out with Nixon moving forward, and hope he can smooth it out in Sun Belt play.

"The conference is still wide open," Hudspeth said.

A win against ULM will certainly help stoke the fan support, and the rivalry win would get them one step closer to bowl eligibility. Take some time to watch Coach Hud's full press conference in the video above, and get a feel for his attitude heading into an important week.
