The public may not know, and the media can only speculate.

But according to a report, the Major League Baseball Players Association has been told which players are going to be suspended in connection with the biogenesis scandal and what those penalties will be.

The two sides are still negotiating deals that would spare grievance hearings, but the news could come out as early as tomorrow.  Major League Baseball is hoping to announce all the penalties at the same time.

New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez is expected to receive the stiffest penalty.  Three other players who were on the All-Star team could receive suspensions, including outfielder Nelson Cruz of Texas, Jhonny Peralta of Detroit and San Diego shortstop Everth Cabrera.

In anticipation of the news on Peralta, the Tigers acquired Red Sox shortstop Jose Iglesias from Boston in a three team trade that send White Sox pitcher Jake Peavy to Boston.
