On Thursday there was good and bad for the LSU defensive unit. The good, defensive coordinator Dave Aranda will be staying with the school on a new contract that will pay him handsomely. The bad, defensive end extraordinaire Arden Key will be forgoing his senior year at LSU and officially will declare for the 2018 NFL Draft.

Key typed up a nice farewell letter and posted it to his Twitter account which you can find here.

Key was dominate in his time at LSU when he was healthy, which was one year. Last year was when Key made his mark, as a sophomore he recorded 11 sacks, that's what jumps off the page at you. In addition, he had 55 total tackles and three passes defended.

This past season he was less effective because there were only a few of the eight games that he played in which he was truly healthy.

In the latest 2018 NFL mock from WalterFootball.com, Key is slated to go seventh overall to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
